Description

This course is designed to immerse the student in the acute care setting of their choice and to increase the student's critical thinking skills, clinical skills, and promote socialization into the role of the registered nurse. This course facilitates further collaboration between the school of nursing and the healthcare facility in the educational development of a more highly skilled graduate registered nurse. Increased clinical experience of the student should enhance success on the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) test and provide the healthcare facility with a more competent graduate registered nurse. This course further promotes attainment to the learning outcomes of the school of nuring. The course will consist of guidelines established through the collaboration of nursing faculty, healthcare liaisons, and the student. Standards of care, evidence based practice, nursing journals, textbooks, and nursing knowledge and skills obtained from previous nursing courses will be utilized to guide the clinical experience and develop learning outcomes.
