Transfer Credit

Students who wish to transfer to the College from other institutions are welcomed. Detailed in the Admissions section of the College Catalog, transfer students must provide the College with official academic transcripts from all former schools. All academic credit attempted at regionally accredited institutions will be reviewed by the College. The College retains the right to determine the amount of credit to be awarded. Credit awarded must be appropriately related to a student's educational program at the College. The College grants transfer credit for courses taken at regionally-accredited institutions. The College gives credit for technical colleges with regional accreditation.

If students have completed the General Education core requirements at a University System of Georgia institution, they do not have to meet the College’s general education requirements as long as they maintain the same major in transfer. A change of major may affect areas of the core. Transfer courses will be assigned ABAC course numbers if the content and level are equivalent. For those core courses without an exact equivalent, the core course will be assigned a number based on the level of the class. All 1000-level will transfer as 1XXX, 2000 level as 2XXX, etc. Students transferring United States History (course or course) or American Government (course) from an institution outside Georgia must take a Georgia exemption exam.

Detailed information is also available in the Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) credit sections of the College Catalog. Further, students may review the Residency Requirements for Graduation section of the College Catalog on the resident credit required at the College. Students may view specific transfer equivalencies from the Transfer Credit Equivalency link on the Registrar website. After acceptance to the College, students who have official transcripts submitted by former schools will view their academic transcripts in Banner Web to review the courses and credit hours accepted for transfer. Also, students receive an email for each transfer transcript articulated in Banner. The email displays the transfer course and the ABAC equivalent course (if applicable) with grades and credit hours. If students wish to request an in-depth review of a course, they may request a transfer credit review.
