Accelerated Dev. English

Accelerated English should be viewed as supplemental, just-in-time support to help students succeed in ENGL 1101 and TECH 1140. It differs from a regular ENGL 0099 class in several ways: 1) The class is coupled with a credit course and immediately follows it on the schedule, and students will be completing all the assignments of the ENGL 1101 or TECH 1140 class; 2) The course is structured to meet the writing needs of individual students; 3) More time is allotted for revision—either individually or through writers’ workshops;4) More time is available for student/instructor conferences, and 5) Students will not be required to take the COMPASS English exit exam to receive credit in ENGL 0099A.
Students eligible for ENGL 0099A must have a B or higher in ENGL 0097 or a minimum score of 45 on the COMPASS writing.
