Intro. to Paramedic Profession

This course provides an introduction to the paramedic profession. Discussion centers on functions that extend beyond the Emergency Medical Technology scope of practice. Course topics include: the EMS system/roles and responsibilities, well-being of the paramedic, illness and injury prevention, medical/legal considerations, ethics, ambulance operations, medical incident command, rescue awareness/operations, hazardous materials incidents, and crime scene awareness. This course provides instruction on topics in Division 1, Sections 1-5; Division 7, Section 1, and Division 8, Sections 1-5 of the US Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety Administration USDOT/NHTSA Paramedic National Standard Curriculum.
