HORT 4080 - Principles of Plant Mineral Nutrition

The objective of this course is to provide the student with a basic and applied knowledge of plant mineral nutrition. The supply and absorption of chemical compounds needed for growth, development, and metabolism may be defined as nutrition and the chemical compounds required by plants are termed nutrients. The criteria defining essential plant nutrients and detailed discussion of the specific nutrients will be the primary focus of the course. The importance of these nutrients for plant growth and development, the function of these nutrients in the plant, and deficiencies of the nutrients will be topics that are discussed.

Prerequisite(s)   with a minimum grade of C.
