Description

A survey of important works of world literature from ancient times through the mid-seventeenth century. Designed to foster in the students some knowledge and appreciation of world literature through the seventeenth century. Lectures, discussions and research are devoted to major literary works, figures, and movements in historical context, with attention to recurrent themes, archetypes and techniques of literary analysis as well as to the influence of philosophical and religious views on literature. Credit toward graduation not allowed for ENGL 2111 and ENGL 2111H. Prerequisite(s): Honors Program membership; ENGL 1102 or ENGL 1102H, with a minimum grade of C.
